The Front Yard
“In all things of nature there is something of the marvelous.”

Before
The outside light fixtures were replaced with Wade Logan’s Zahara Outdoor Sconces and they have a light on the top and a light on the bottom. We replaced the doorbell with a Lumens LED model that is easily visible from the street.
We had the flowerbeds gutted and cleaned out. Since we get a ton of shade in the front yard we needed to select shade loving plants. The choice came down to Awabuki Viburnum or Variegated Ginger but we ended up going with Variegated Ginger. It doesn’t flower but it has enough color variation to make it an eye-catching shrub. I absolutely love Awabuki Viburnum but it can grow up to 15 feet tall with a 9 foot spread. I needed something a little lower to the ground as I like to layer my landscaping. We planted giant Elephant Ears behind the Variegated Ginger to give the beds a fuller look and get a little height in the back of the flowerbeds.
The address numbers on the house and on the curb both needed to be updated to reflect the look I was going for. I wanted something completely original to be painted on the curb so I came up with a design that I thought worked well. The green is more of a pistachio when I needed more of an avocado but out of all the paint I went through this was the closest I could achieve. The stencil and the house numbers were ordered through Modern House Numbers and they did a fantastic job! We used the Palm Springs font for both and they came out looking great.
